This portrait was taken at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.
While most of the wedding photography is candid and photojournalism, there are some parts that are portraits. The portraits are broken up into the couple's portraits, family portraits, and wedding party portraits. That is of course assuming that there is a wedding party because in more recent years I have had some weddings were there is none.
In this image I am photographing Sarah and Josh with their entire wedding party. We decided to photograph this in the library of the Rittenhouse Hotel and, with the chairs, allowed us to create some variety with how everyone was placed. If you have too big of a group in too small of a location it's not possible to photograph when everyone is standing. Having some of the wedding party seated allowed us to work in this space. And it was important to work in this space because it was part of Sarah and Josh's vision for their pictures.
